For your convenience, below are a list of frequently asked questions to help you decide whether or not While Away is right for you.

Our mission at While Away is to be an integral part of our community by encouraging donations to rescues and other non-profit organizations, by promoting the fostering and rescuing of animals in need, and by providing top-notch home and pet care for our valuable friends. We want to be part of the solution to spread a message of giving, service, gratitude and animal love and protection.

Of course! We want to give you complete peace of mind and getting comfortable with your caregiver ahead of time is just part of it.

Yes, it’ll be the same person looking after your household throughout the duration of your service, given that there are no unexpected situations.

Each pet visit is 30 minutes in length. You can add time at an extra cost ($10 for every 15 minutes).

Each visit may include getting the mail, a complete walk-through of the house, rotating lights, opening and closing blinds, and daily documentation. For pets, fresh water, food and TLC is also included.

You can pay by credit card, email transfer or cheque.

While Away believes in positive reward based training where good behavior is rewarded for doing well. Whatever those things may be that the animal finds joy in are to be used, assuming it is in the best interest of the animals. This is done primarily through hand signals, verbal cues, affection, attention, snuggles, and play. Reward may also be in the form of treats, however many of the loved ones that we care for do have strict diets and treat regimes so we are respectful of this. Punishment never has to come by way of anything physical or loud. Reprimanding in anger only creates fear; not love. We find that positive reinforcement maintains the contentment and the spirit of love inherent within every animal.
